| Welcome to the 37th IFWTO Annual Convention
which will take place in the ancient centre of civilization, Athens, Greece from March 28
to April 2, 2006 The International Federation of
Women's Travel Organizations (IFWTO) founded in 1969 as an international Federation of
professionals in the travel and tourism industry, serving the needs of women operates on
the principle that "PEOPLE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN PLACES"
The theme of the Athens convention will be "Athens -
the WONDER of revival" which is based on the new slogan adopted by the Greek National
Tourist Organization, "Wonderful Greece" after the very successful 2004 Olympic
Games organized by the WONDER spirit of the Greek people.
Visitors to Athens now see a totally revived city looking
to the future and yet maintaining its important place in the history of civilization. Many
visitor attractions are ancient, yet renewed. The infrastructure of the city has been
dramatically changed but has not lost its many tributes to mankind, language, culture and
philosophy.
Athens is a must - a once-in-a-lifetime experience, not to
be missed. It is tourism, history, culture, civilization, cuisine and fun, all rolled into
one great package and definitely not to be missed.
